I&#8217;m blow job expert too, because I just love it [laughs]! I\u2019m also an exotic dancer and I host clubs right here in Colombia. \u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>We have so many questions about sex work and the cam business,\u00a0 but can you give us the origin story of how you started in camming? How many years have you been doing this? What brought you into it? <\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Mia<\/strong>: Oh my God. This is a crazy story! So, before being on webcam, I was like a totally common person. A \u00a0classic girl from Columbia. We have like really strong customs, and people think here that females should be the person in the house who takes care of the husband and the \u00a0children, and she doesn&#8217;t work and all that. She cannot be sexy, and if she is kind of sexy, she\u2019s considered a whore. it&#8217;s stupid because a female is sexy and when she feels sexy and she\u2019s dressed in a certain way, she is considered a whore in Latin American culture. \u00a0And here in Columbia, it\u2019s a big taboo. I&#8217;m trying to break those taboos with my webcam. So how I got started: I was married to an American guy and had my appointment to go to United States, because he was living there. I was living in Colombia with my best friend and his dad. One day, my best friend\u00a0 asked me to pick up a package for him, but I was working so I sent my cousin. It turns out the package was 36 kgs of marijuana, and my cousin ended up going to jail. I felt like it was my fault, even though I had no idea it was drugs \u2013 I\u2019m not into that sort of thing. I needed a way to get the money to bail him out of jail &#8211; $7,000 to be exact, which would have taken me 10 months to make with my current salary at the time. I knew I didn\u2019t want to become a prostitute \u2013 which, in Colombia, was a way to fast money. But my best friend showed me webcamming and I decided to dive right in, as it felt safe and like a way to make money without being in danger or having to actually meet up with people. I also started dancing at that time.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Did you love camming and the adult industry right away, or did you need time to get used to it? <\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Mia:<\/strong> Ooh my god, I loved it! It gave me such great self esteem right away, I knew it was where I belonged! And look at me now, I\u2019m here thriving on CAM4 and even making podcasts! My marriage, however, didn\u2019t last and ended up coming to an end because I chose to do webcamming, and my relationship with my family was terrible for some time. But O managed to get through it because I was making good money. Broadcasters say all the time, it&#8217;s a draining job. It can be draining. It can take so many hours. And sex work in general is all about holding space for other people. You&#8217;re holding space for all these people, listening to their problems, listening to their requests. How do you avoid being burnt out? <\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Mia<\/strong>: <strong>\u00a0<\/strong>When it comes to my fans and viewers, I know I can\u2019t be the total solution to their problems, however<strong>, <\/strong>I can definitely give them some words to make them feel like they can handle it because I\u2019ve learned that it doesn&#8217;t matter what happens in your life. You can handle it with a positive attitude. It may ttake a long time, but if you stay positive, there&#8217;s no way something can break you down. So what I try to do is keep them thinking in the most possible positive way. Don&#8217;t focus on the bad shit, because if you focus on that, you&#8217;re gonna get more bad shit more and, and more and more and more. Life happens, so just take it and grow and keep going.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>And what about sexuality? Do you only share or only express your sexuality when the camera is on? Do you find that you have time in your private life to still enjoy your sexuality on your own or for, or with someone else? How do you balance that? <\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Mia:<\/strong> Sometimes I like to be <em>normal<\/em> and not sexual, so I take every Sunday or Monday to rest. Don\u2019t\u2019 get me wrong, I love being sexy, but oh my God, I need a day to be just chilling. I&#8217;m not a really active sexual person. Right. Honestly, I&#8217;ve never been, never been. So for me, sex is so important because for me, you give a lot of your energy when you have sex. So when you have this job, you are given a lot of energy through a lot of people all the time. And when you can rest, it\u2019s like <em>finally! <\/em><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>We have such a strong community when it comes to intimacy and experiencing connections, because we don&#8217;t just rely on that physical sex experience to feel connected. And we search for something deeper in our connections. And like, I think, I personally think that we are highly evolved. We\u2019re more evolved than the rest of the world, wouldn\u2019t you agree?<\/strong><\/p><p>Mia: We as sex workers have a different way to see sexuality already. It\u2019s not about just going and out and having sex; it&#8217;s more complicated than that for us. It&#8217;s like having fun and feeling excited without being penetrated. But people think you are horny all the time. It is not like that. People, please stop thinking like that!<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Exactly. There&#8217;s so much depth because we are interacting with people on a sexual level all day that we learn so much about our own sexuality. And guess what? That means. We have new requirements for intimacy new requirements to get us off in the real world. <\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Mia:<\/strong> I still think it&#8217;s really funny to see how the people are so wrong about our sexuality.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>So, so tell me, Mia, do you have a plan for the long term success? Do you have a long term career goal in this industry? <\/strong><\/p><p>Mia: Actually yes, I do!\u00a0 I\u2019m building my own studio in Colombia. In Latin America, we have the biggest stigma because males are expected to be the ones in power; the ones in control and I hate it so much! I want all females to feel how I feel, because I feel powerful. I feel like I can do everything. I feel like I don&#8217;t need a man by myself to make me feel like I&#8217;m enough. You know, I don&#8217;t need a man to give me everything I need. In Colombia, women are raised to be the perfect wife and take care of the kids and the house, but I&#8217;m so done with seeing that [laughs]! So yeah, this is how I&#8217;m planning to help in this industry and in the world actually, because we need it. We need to feel powerful and beautiful and awesome as women.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Absolutely! So, what\u2019s your your best advice for cam broadcasters, whether they just started or whether they&#8217;ve been in this for a long time. Is there one big lesson that you&#8217;ve learned or one big piece of advice that you have for them? <\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Mia:<\/strong> Yes. My biggest advice is to see your viewers as friends, because they\u2019re there supporting you when perhaps no one else would! , It doesn&#8217;t matter If you are creating a character or if you are being yourself on camera, the viewers appreciate you. I have followers and they&#8217;ve been following me since the first day I started streaming and to them I just have to say, thank you. I think the biggest lesson I learned is that they are your friends.
