Cam Life Exhibition opens at The Museum of Sex

W

ednesday night, we were invited to experience the new dynamic installation of Cam Life: An Introduction to Webcam Culture, a collaboration between CAM4 and The Museum of Sex in New York. CAM4 is an adult webcam platform viewed by millions across the world, featuring amateur models from male and female to transgender and gender non-conforming. A tech pioneer in the sex cam industry, CAM4 has been an integral storyteller into the history of online cam and chat.

The opening party was joined by Museum of Sex’s artistic director Serge Becker and Curator Lissa Rivera; additional guests included Tana Mongeau, Mod Ko, and CAM4 artists.

This latest multilevel exhibition chronicles the complex and diverse history of webcam culture through original commissioned works from six contemporary artists alongside a vast collection of artifacts documenting the rise of internet broadcasting of sexual expression. Interactive media installations ,designed as semi private booths, and live performances by CAM4 models streamlined the proliferation of the rise in democratic and curated sexual erotica.

The cyber aspect of cam culture was further explored by a metallic mirrored tunnel leading into a sequence of interactive amusement activations dubbed “SuperFunLand” where guests could use tokens for games to win prizes such as pink and gold “Sex God” crowns and experience provocative themed rides like bull riding in an erotic themed carnival.
