As you all know, the current global pandemic is having serious consequences on vulnerable communities in many countries around the world, and the situation is currently worsening in South America..
Last week,CAM4 , in collaboration with CAM4 staff in Colombia, one of the countries most present in our great community, we carried out an initiative to help some of the most vulnerable groups and the most humble neighborhoods in the city of Medellín.
Our staff in the city visited neighborhoods such as San Cristóbal, Caicedo La Sierra, or Los Altos de San Javier, to deliver bags of basic food and basic necessities to some of the families in the area. In total 350 bags were distributed to families throughout Medellín.
We also helped two foundations of vulnerable groups such as the association “Putamente Poderosas” , which gives voice to the group of sex workers in Medellín, making visible their problems and stories, and “Red Popular Trans” , a group made up of Trans and Queer people in a precarious situation. In total, with this initiative we were able to help 740 families in the city.
Although much remains to be done, we are happy to find that we were able to contribute at least a little bit in the uncertain current situation, and in some way return the support that Colombia has always provided to our community, and we hope that soon everything can go back to normal and all together we can overcome this small bump.
Much encouragement and strength to all! ?
