One Year After ‘Pulse’ Victims

One Year After ‘Pulse’ Victims

Today mark and remember the one year anniversary of one of the most horrific crimes to happen within our community. A year ago today, a gunman walked into a club in Orlando, FL and opened fired inside the gay nightclub “Pulse”. This story hit home for a lot of people around the world, because although we might not live in Orlando; it could have happened anywhere. The people that were in the club were just out having a good time and that night, 49 of them lost their lives.

The gay community in Toronto came together and held a candle light vigil at the downtown community centre 519. It was so touching to watch as different members of the community showed up to pay their respects and show their support for the lives that were lost, and the people that were effected.

If you missed the vigil last year, and would love to be part of showing your love and support. The 519 (an LGBTQ community centre) is holding a memorial service and an art unveiling. It all begins at 7:30 p.m. The location is 519 Church street, Toronto ON

“This evening we will celebrate the invaluable lives of our diverse communities and remember those we have lost along our journey for freedom. And through light, we will acknowledge that a brighter future founded on love and respect is not just a possibility but is a strong commitment that we all share.”
