Weird Way To Remember Someone
There are many ways people can remember those that have gone to the afterlife, but thanks to the internet we have one more way to remember, and this way is kinda odd.
Mark Sturkenboom a designer from Amsterdam has created an usual memory box called 21 Grams. His work balances between art and design, he stretches the boundaries between function and concept. He really did stretch the boundaries on this project.
21 Grams is a grey, wooden memory box, protected by a gold-plated brass key that can be worn by its owner. Inside the box is a scent diffuser and an amp, that connects to an iPhone and plays music through its speaker holes. There’s also a blown glass dildo, that holds a golden urn, which can carry a human’s ashes.
The name of the project refers to a belief that a human soul weighs 21 grams. This is based on a series of early 20th-century experiments by an American doctor that recorded weight loss in people as they died, which have since been widely discredited.
