Sex is Really Really Good For You
As you can imagine we are pretty big fans of all things sex related! We happen to believe that it’s one of the greatest gifts Mother Nature has given us, and we should all be having as much of it as we possibly can. You just can’t beat the feeling of sheer contented bliss after a good hot sweaty session. However, did you know that regular sex does a lot more than put a smile on your face? It is actually really important in the maintenance of a healthy mind and body in so many ways. Here are just a few of them:
It keeps illness at bay
Believe it or not, regular sessions between the sheets/in the shower/on the dining table can help prevent illness. Research has shown that people who have sex at least once a week have higher levels of the antibodies needed to help fight off certain infections.
It lowers your blood pressure
Regular intercourse (as opposed to having sex with yourself!) can help to lower systolic blood pressure. The systolic bit didn’t mean much to us either but apparently it’s the first number on your blood pressure test. And it’s a good thing!
It boosts libido
In other words having regular sex means you’ll have more regular sex. And for women in particular, regular sex is important for maintaining lubrication and elasticity. So the more you have, the better it feels. What’s not to love about that?
It can help with anxiety and depression
The chemicals, specifically the endorphins, released in the body during and after sex can have a very positive impact on your mood and can help reduce stress and anxiety. And some studies have even suggested that semen itself can help lift people out of the blues. Now we’re not for a second suggesting that if you’re feeling a bit down then unprotected sex is the answer. But if you’re in a single partner relationship then there are more added benefits to skin to skin than you might think!
It can help keep you looking young
This one definitely has to be our favourite! According to Dr David Weeks, who is a neuropsychologist at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, regular sexual activity can ‘help a person to look between four and seven years younger.’
So, if you want to stay in shape, feel good, stay looking younger, keep your blood pressure under control and stay healthy then you should be having lots and lots of sex! Off you go 😉
