India’s Transgender Queen Contest

Nearly a week after a top court in Indian restored a law banning gay sex in India, the transsexual community in Manipur hosted the third edition of the annual ‘Trans Queen Contest’ for the northeastern region on Friday. Pictured, a participant wore an outfit designed to replicate tools used by locals in Manipur for fishing, Dec. 13. The event saw several members of the lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual community deliver speeches against the Supreme Court’s decision to recriminalize homosexual acts.
